Gustavus Adolphus Men’s D2 Club Hockey

Mission Statement:

The purpose of this club is to provide an on-campus opportunity for members to be a part of a hockey team. Primarily through practices and games, members will be able to improve upon their hockey skills, develop effective teamwork abilities and foster a sense of belonging and community with one and another.

Membership:

Membership: Any Gustavus student eligible under ACHA and WCCHA rules can be granted membership to the team (aka club).

Attendance:

1. All teammates (aka members) are expected to make all practices and games to the best of their ability.
2. We in leadership positions within the club understand the rather intensive time commitments throughout the season and expect a small number of conflicts to arise.

• When members are unable to make practices, they need to notify the coach and president know 24 hours in advance as their absence affects everyone on the team.
• When members are unable to make games, they need to notify the coach and president no less than 72 hours in advance as their absence affects everyone on the team.

1. The primary commitment for the club fall within the months of October through February.
2. Repeated failure to abide by the above guidelines will result in discussions with team leadership and possible disciplinary measures including reduced playing time and team suspension.

4. Student positions:
5. President: The president, as is the case with all leadership, shall represent the Gustavus Club Hockey Team in the highest regard. The president, in conjunction with the coach, will run practices and games in a smooth and competitive manner. The president is responsible for being in frequent contact with the advisor and coach regarding season logistics, game play and practice plans. The president will also work with leadership to coordinate any off-ice activities, meeting or the like.
6. Vice President: The vice-president will support and supplement the duties of the president in practices, games, and off-ice responsibilities.
7. Secretary: The secretary is responsible for recording problematic absences by members and any supplemental team dues to be collected (ie voluntary team meals when traveling).
8. Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for collecting any supplemental team dues to be collected (ie voluntary team meals when traveling).
9. Risk Manager: The Risk manager will warrant that the group will not present undue risk to participants or to the College

Values:

This club reflects Gustavus and all Gustavus Values. Members shown to be degrading Gustavus values reflect poorly on this club, it’s values of teamwork and excellence, its members, and all Gustavus Values. Such behavioral problems will be subject to disciplinary measures including reduced playing time and team suspension and, in extreme measures, removal from the team.
