We, The Fourth Crown, are a satirical newspaper dedicated to making the students at Gustavus Adolphus College feel more connected. The content that we will be creating is satirical in nature and in no way reflects the views of Gustavus Adolphus College or its faculty, students, or administrators. The Fourth Crown is not intended for readers under the age of 18. While the stories we write are false in nature, they all relate back to the campus in ways that are familiar to both students and faculty alike.

People may apply to join The Fourth Crown by submitting an application via Google Forms with examples of their writing, which will be looked over and evaluated by any of our current members within the organization at one of our weekly meetings.

While roles and positions may shift in how they handle their respective aspects, one constant role that will be within The Fourth Crown is the position of Editor-in-Chief.  The duties of the Editor-in-Chief (herein referred to as EiC) are as follows:

i.) The EiC shall look over the articles submitted by the group, in order to both proof-read and make sure that the content being posted is following school policy.

ii.) The EiC will post any articles submitted and proofread to The Fourth Crown website. These articles will be released on a schedule that is predetermined during our weekly meetings.

iii.) The EiC is responsible for checking the application form for new responses in order to bring the applicants’ submission to the group

The role of Editor-in-Chief can be divided in half, giving two members within the group the role of Co-Editor-in-Chief. These Co-EiC’s have the same responsibilities listed above, and are responsible for helping each other handle the duties of the group equally.

As mentioned above, we will be holding a weekly meeting to discuss any group activities, catch up on applications or our website, and brainstorm ideas for future articles. At most, the meetings will be an hour long, but will more than likely end sooner than that. While members are encouraged to come, they are only required to come to 3 of the potential 6 meetings we’ll have each month.

Our organization will be seeking funding from the Student Senate in order to cover the costs of running and operating the website domain on which we will be posting Fourth Crown content. The total estimate that we will be asking for annually is around $55.

This constitution may be amended by The Fourth Crown group as a collective with a ⅔ vote.

Should our organization disband, any additional funds that have not already been put towards the website will be refunded back to the Student Senate.

This constitution was voted on and put into effect on Thursday, September 16th, 2021.

Signed by current Editor-in-Chief, Maia Honl
