Statement Of Purpose/ Mission
We are a ski club that allows skiers of all abilities to participate in a lifelong sport. Members include advanced skiers looking to race competitively in the ranks of college nordic skiing as well as skiers who want to ski recreationally. Our activities include organized practices up to five times a week and races up to two times a week. We also have scheduled races that all club members attend if they are interested. We plan to travel in and out of state for training opportunities and races. The majority of these trips will be in the Twin Cities area, other trips include travel to other areas of the Midwest.

Article I: Name and Purpose Section 1: Title Gustavus Women’s Nordic Ski Club Section 2: Purpose/Mission The Women’s Nordic Ski club will strive to… Provide an opportunity for college students to race competitively Educate and encourage members to discover and enjoy all that Nordic skiing has to offer Promote student-athletes to set and achieve their goals Foster team spirit and pride Article II: Membership Section 1: Eligibility All Gustavus Adolphus students in good academic standing are eligible to participate in the Nordic Ski Club. Members should express an interest in ski racing and improving their performance. Section 2: Voting Member Criteria Members must attend at least 50% of practices and attend the spring closing meeting in order to vote for executive members. If members have another obligation that requires them to miss more than 50% of practices, an exception can be made if the existing officers are notified at the beginning of the season. Article III: Executive Board Section 1: Qualifications An individual who is qualified to be elected a member of the executive board has at least one season of experience with the Nordic Ski Club, is in good academic standing and not under disciplinary probation, and exemplifies great leadership and organization. Section 2: Elected Officers President Vice President Secretary Treasurer Section 3: Duties of Officers President or Co-Presidents Set meeting agenda with assistance from the other officers. President and vice president are responsible for leading group meetings. Vice President Collect eligibility forms/travel waivers from each member. President and vice president are responsible for leading group meetings. Secretary Taking detailed meeting notes and reporting them on the Nordic Ski Club Facebook page and to the email alias. Treasurer Keep track of finances and keep a financial record. Submit finance requests to Senate. Help plan events for the team to raise funds. Article IV: Elections These positions will be nominated for at the end of each season, with a requirement that there must be at least one junior represented on the executive board. Having a junior on the board will allow them to gain leadership experience for the upcoming season. All members that have attended at least 50% of the practices are allowed to vote. In the case of a tie, a re-vote will be taken with just those who tied in the running. If the case of another tie, both will share that executive board position. Article V: Meetings Section 1: Regular Meetings/Club Activities Meetings will be held when necessary to discuss important upcoming club activities including, but not limited to, meets, events, or business transactions. Captains will notify members via email as well as announcements at club functions such as practices, meets, etc. Section 2: Special Meetings Captains may call special meetings as needed and in the event that something unexpected or important occurs that needs to be dealt with immediately. Members will be notified as they would for a regular meeting, and conducted in a similar fashion. Section 3: Parliamentary Authority Captains will run meetings. Prior to the meeting, the captains will form an agenda that outlines the content of the meeting. Team members attending the meeting will be allowed to voice questions, concerns, and ideas that pertain to the team. Section 4: Voting 50% of voting members must be present in order to hold a vote on official club business. Article VI: Finances Section 1: Fundraising Finances will primarily be raised through extensive team fundraising along with money allocated from student senate. Section 2: Student Senate The executive board is responsible for applying creating each year's budget and applying for money through student senate in the fall and the spring. This budget will include travel expenses, competition fees, equipment, wax and coaching. The coach will receive a stipend from club funds. The amount will depend on the annual budget. Article VII: Amendments Section 1: Amendment Proposals Any member of the Nordic Ski Club can propose an amendment to the club’s constitution by presenting it to the executive board. Section 2: Ratification Proposed amendments will be voted on at meetings and require a ⅔ vote by members in order to be ratified.
