Jeannie PetersonStaff
My family and I moved to St. Peter in 2008 from a small village in western NY state named Angelica. Prior to that, we lived in the beautiful Black Hills (Spearfish) were I completed my certification to teach from SDSU (Brookings, SD). Originally, my husband and I are from a small town in northeast SD named Sisseton. We have two adult children, Tanner and Emily. Tanner is a songwriter/musician and Emily is an RN working in the OR at the Sanford Surgical Tower, Sioux Falls, SD. My husband works at the U of M-St. Paul with the College of Biological Sciences as an Academic Technologist (he helps faculty build online courses). I’ve worked for Gustavus Adolphus College for 14 years as the Library Operations Coordinator until my move over to the beautiful arboretum this past June!
I’ve also served approximately 10 years (1988-97) in the South Dakota Army National Guard achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 740th Transportation Unit. Our unit was activated for Desert Storm serving six months overseas.
As I begin learning the many skills/tasks to make this position look easy (or at least handled), I look forward to perhaps meeting you at an upcoming event, a stroll through the Arboretum, or perhaps by chance! As the Gustavus Arboretum holds so much beauty and potential, I’d like to encourage you to take a stroll on a beautiful day and please feel free to swing in and greet either me or Scott. Meantime, I'll be working on enhancing what has already been greatly established here on these 135 acres on the Hill.
