Jessica Helget ’11

Hello! As an alum of Gustavus Adolphus College in 2011, Jessica has spent lots of time on the Gustavus Campus! She is thrilled to be a part of the "Gustavus Family", espeically the Nursing department.  Her role in the department is mainly in the Lab setting.  She coordinates Junior level nursing students lab skills that are vital in the nursing profession.  Some of these include: vital signs, medication administration, IV care, foley insertion, head to toe assessments, NG insertion, etc.  Additionally, she runs simulations along with the other faculty in the department.  With 5 different mid to high fidelity mannequens, the students are able to care for geriatric, adult, obstetric, and pediatric patients in a simulated experience.  Part of her role at Gustavus is to prep the nursing students for the NCLEX-RN by assisting in monitoring their progress of ATI (NCLEX prep aid) and aid in learning study techniques to help better prepare for their boards.  Additionallly, she coordinates all of the clinical sites that both our Juniors and Seniors attend.  She is currently working on a telemetry and ICU step down unit at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato, as both a staff and charge nurse.  In 2021, she completed her Masters in Science: Nurse Educator degree from St. Catherine University.
