Tips and Reminders
Sustainability tip... According to a 2018 study by Reuters, The number of Americans drinking a daily cup of coffee is at the highest level since 2012, at 64 percent. As Americans, we consume the most coffee globally, which means that changing our coffee habits can have a positive impact on the Earth. Here are some steps you can take to enjoy a "green" cup of coffee:
- Choose to buy beans with a lower environmental impact by looking for organic and fair trade designations.
- If you use a single cup pod system, buy a reusable pod that you can refill every morning.
- Brew only what you and your household drink, then compost the grounds!
- Purchase a reusable metal filter rather than buying filters. Or better yet, try pour over or cold brew methods rather than your electric pot.
- Carry a reusable mug with you to work or on the go to help reduce single-cup waste! (typically this will also save you money, including 25 cents at Gustavus!)

Gallup Employee Engagement Survey - Have you engaged yet with the College? You still have time to participate in our second annual employee engagement survey. We have extended it one more week due to Spring Break. Please reply by April 12. If you do not think you received the survey link, please contact Human Resources. It is also possible that was filtered into your promotions or spam folder in your GusMail. Please check those folders as well.
The survey is a short 20 question survey. This survey and corresponding results will help lead us with the Strategic Plan Initiative 3.3/3.4. The Gustavus community has asked for us to create a repeatable and measurable evaluation process that can be used year over year to improve our employee experience and performance. This is our second year in this process.
Introducing Sharecare... Do you have Blue Cross Blue Shield medical insurance? If so, you are highly encouraged to attend an informative session about Sharecare. Led by an expert from BCBS, you'll learn about Sharecare, a new mobile app that allows you to track your own personal health habits in an easy and innovative way. Sharecare provides you with your "real age" based on a health assessment and supports you in setting your own personalized health goals.
Attend either the 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. sessions on Wednesday, April 24 in the Board Room, located in the Jackson Campus Center. Support will be available to help you download the app and access tools. Prior to attending a session, it is highly recommended that you establish your BCBS online account through bluecrossmnonline.com.
You won't want to miss out on this opportunity to join Sharecare and the chance to win prizes! For questions, contact Nicole Goebel in the Office of Human Resources.
