Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time (6/7) one-year position of Visiting Instructor (or Assistant Professor with appropriate qualifications) in the Department of Economics and Management to begin September 1, 2019.

The Department of Economics and Management offers majors in Economics, Management, and Accounting and graduates an average of 120 students per year, including 50-60 management majors. All management majors take a core of courses that includes marketing, organizational behavior, and strategic management

Major/Essential Functions: The annual teaching assignment will be 6 courses, one of which will be a one-month January Term experiential course determined by the candidate and appropriate to the candidate’s expertise. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Introduction to Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, and Operations Management.

Prerequisites

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree business administration, business education, management, or a related field (Doctorate preferred);
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching;
  • A commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentoring; and
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with college-level teaching;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching a variety of management courses, and
  • Ability to teach the courses Operations Management or Human Resource Management.
