Tips and Reminders
Sustainability tip... Whether we know it or not, most people in the United States use products everyday that enter wastewater, potentially contaminating rivers and streams, such as personal care products (e.g. shampoo, soap, deodorant) that contain fragrant musks such as tonalide and galaxolide, prescription medications (e.g. statin drugs), illicit drugs (e.g. methamphetamine) and food constituents (e.g. caffeine). These molecules make it into wastewater treatment streams (e.g. through showering), and ultimately into lakes, rivers, and streams where they can negatively impact aquatic life such as fish and mussels. The Stoll Laboratory on our campus does research to ultimately understanding the fate, distribution and impact of these molecules in the environment. To minimize your impact on the environment, make sure you read the ingredients on your personal care products and try to avoid fragments that can negatively impact aquatic life, such as tonalide and galaxolide!
Spring Break 2019 Parking/Parking Lot Cleaning Schedule... Parking lots will be closed overnight for surface cleaning during spring break.
Regular permit parking enforcement will be in effect during spring break (Red and Green permit lots permit required 7 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, overnight parking restricted 2 a.m.-7 a.m. in Green permit parking and the Stadium lot seven days a week, Visitor parking closed to students and employees 24/7/365). Always assume that parking is enforced even if classes are not in session.
Students who are leaving a vehicle on campus over break must move it to the designated spring break parking in the Bjorling Lot (directly west of the Music building) or if that fills up, in the designated break parking section in the Arbor View Lot. Students should look for the BREAK PARKING signs to be sure you are parked in the correct row(s)! Employees who need to leave a vehicle on campus overnight should use the motor pool parking lot.
