President Cabinet Summary
November 6 Cabinet Meeting Summary
1. Human Resources Business Partner Ann Johnson was present to review a number of requested new/replacement positions.
• Members approved the hiring of a full-time GTS replacement positon (Information Systems Development and Support Administrator).
• Members approved the hiring of two full-time Physical Plant replacement positions (Director of Building Services and Operating Engineer).
• Members approved an additional 20 hours in the Counseling Center (Mental Health Therapist).
2. Discussion was held regarding future budget planning.
November 13 Cabinet Meeting Summary
1. Director of Institutional Research David Menk was present to discuss the proposed lists of peer and aspirant institutions. Members approved the lists. They will be reviewed with the Faculty Senate, faculty, and the Board of Trustees this winter.
2. Special Assistant to the President for Strategy Kathi Tunheim gave a report on the most recent SPUR meeting and asked Consultant Ann Duffield to report on the student survey focus groups she is conducting on campus this week. Associate Provost and Dean of Sciences and Education and Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Alisa Rosenthal gave an update on the work of the President’s Council for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
3. Members reviewed a draft spear phishing notice to employees. Due to a number of employees who have been recent targets of phishing attempts, members agreed on implementing a mandatory adoption of duo two-factor authentication and GusMail by January 23, 2019, to help protect employees, students, and the College.
4. Associate Vice President for Financial Planning and Analysis Kris Hank was present to review the timetable and online process for the FY 2020 budget planning.

College Post Office Hours...The College Post Office will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 21, 2018.
The Mailroom and Print Services will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
New Room Reservation System...The campus is moving to a new room request/reservation system, which is called ReServe. An important part of the new system is that all email correspondence about a room request will be managed within the system. Thus, emails about room reservations will come from @mail.reservecloud.com. We cannot change this to a Gustavus address. Some offices are starting to use the new system. Therefore, please trust and open emails from this address. For now, room requests should be made to the person in each building responsible for managing requests. This list can be found at gustavus.edu/events/reserve.
Library hours for Thanksgiving week... 8 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Tuesday November 20 and Wednesday, November 21. Thursday, November 22 - Saturday, November 24: Closed. Sunday, 6 p.m. - 1 a.m. November 25.
Ushers for Christmas in Christ Chapel...Usher help is needed to assist guests at Christmas in Christ Chapel. With the reserved seating option being new this year, we would like some additional help. Donation request...Gustavus employees who would like to donate paid time off/vacation hours to a fellow employee who is on an approved FMLA leave, and will run out of paid time off (PTO) prior to the end of the leave, may access the donation form here and submit the form to the Payroll area in the Finance office.

Department of Scandinavian Studies Annual Yuletide Breakfast...
Join Associate Professor of History, Scandinavian Studies, and Russian and Eastern European Studies Dr. Glenn Kranking, Douglas Nimmo Professor of the Gustavus Wind Orchestra Dr. James Patrick Miller, and student musicians Andy DeLuca, Kristi Manning, Charlie Barnhouse, and Karin Anderson of as they share reflections from last winter's 2018 GWO tour in Sweden and Norway.
This event will take place from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, December 13 in the Jackson Campus Center Banquet Room. Tickets are $9 each, and can be purchased online or by calling 507-933-7520. If you have any questions, contact Jennifer Tollefson at 507-933-7391.
Christmas in Christ Chapel - Tickets on sale now...Christmas in Christ Chapel is happening November 30, December 1 and 2. There is an exciting, significant change in how tickets will be sold this year. New this year, guests will select specific reservable seats in Christ Chapel at the time of ticket purchase. There will no longer be general admission seating. Employees will continue to receive one free ticket. Tickets are going fast! Hymnfest Announcement... Hymnfest will be held this Sunday, November 18 at 3 p.m. at Union Presbyterian Church at Locust and Third Street. We welcome you to a festival of hymns and readings for organ, choir, and congregation. “Bring Peace to Earth Again: Musical Reflections for Justice” is this year’s theme, featuring guest artist Emily G. Bruflat, organist at First Lutheran Church. This hymnfest is free and open to the public. We hope to see you Sunday.

Obituaries
John J. Schneider (father of Karri Anderson, Book Mark), age 79 of Le Sueur died on Tuesday morning, November 13, 2018. Memorial services will be at the Kolden Funeral Home, Le Sueur on Saturday, November 17, 2018, 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the funeral home the morning of the services. A full obituary can be found online.

Inside Gustavus is a newsletter for Gustavus Adolphus College employees produced by the Office of Marketing and Communication. It is published weekly during the academic year (except during the week of Thanksgiving, the Christmas break, Touring Week, and the Spring and Easter breaks). Anyone may submit items by filling out an online submission form. While online submissions are preferred, items may also be submitted typewritten on a letter-sized sheet of paper. Send "snail mail" items to: Inside Gustavus, Office of Marketing and Communication. Items must reach the office no later than 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday before publication.
