  1. Find your Internship. 
  2. Go to the Gustavus Career Development webpage to request an internship experience 
    1. Link to the page: https://gustavus.edu/career/
    2. Once you are on the page, click on the HandShake link and sign into your account

    1. When logged in, click on the “Career Center” button on the top right corner of your screen

    1. Click on the “Experiences” under the ‘What can we help you find?’ section

    1. Click “Request an Experience” on the top left corner of the page

    1. Fill out the “Request an Experience” form. In the form, you will have to describe the internships duties, goals, and responsibilities. If you complete the internship during the fall or spring semester, the total number of hours worked will be between 60-120 for 1.0 credits, and the course number with the department code of the LALACS internship is LAS-398 or LAS-268. If you complete the internship during J-Term, the course number will be NDL-238 “Career Exploration,” and you will have a faculty sponsor assigned for 30 or more hours. 
    2. Once submitted, the internship experience will have to be approved by the career center, your employer/ site supervisor, and a faculty sponsor. The main person to be in contact with at the Career Development Center about your internship is Julie Rudolph, who can be contacted at jarudolph@gustavus.edu or 507-995-7094. 
  1. When approved, the career center will contact the college’s Registrar and the course will be added to your class schedule. On your class schedule, the internship will appear as LAS-368-001 or NDL-238 (for J-Term).
