Mac OS X Firewall(Redirected from Turning off the firewall setting on a Macintosh)

The Mac OS X Firewall is a personal firewall that comes installed on Mac OS X.

Disabling

While it may make your computer vulnerable to attacks, some applications, such as Adobe GoLive CS2 may require your firewall to be disabled.

To disable your firewall, take the following steps:

  1. Open the System Preferences, located under the Apple Menu > System Preferences
  2. Open up the Sharing preference, located in the Internet & Network section of the Preferences.
  3. Click on the Firewall tab, located in the middle of the window between Services and Internet.
  4. Click on the Stop button to turn off the firewall. Close System Preferences.

To turn the firewall back on, repeat the above steps but click the Start button instead of the Stop button.
