Gigabyte

A gigabyte or GB is a unit of information or computer storage equal to approximately one billion bytes or 1000 megabytes.

Gigabyte is commonly abbreviated as GB. Not to be confused with Gb, used for gigabits.

At Gustavus Adolphus College, students are allowed 1GB of data storage on their home directory and allowed 500MB, which is a half of a gigabyte, for their e-mail.
