3crowns Policy

3 Crowns Cards

Gustavus issues 3 Crowns Cards rather than outside door keys for residence hall access. These cards allow students who live on campus, access to every residence hall from 8 am to 11 pm, and to access their own hall 24 hours a day.

Your 3 Crowns card is also used for:

  • The Caf, the Courtyard Café, and the Steamery for using your meal plan.
  • Special access rooms used for specific classes, clubs, and student orgs.
  • Events, giveaways, and more!

Helpline Employees Access

GTS employees have 3 Crowns Cards for residence halls as well as for access to our grey box and the Helpline "FishBowl." Helpers are expected to carry their cards with them when they are working.

Lost or Missing Cards

Lost or missing cards are to be reported immediately. To report your missing card:

  1. Click on the yellow user icon on the Gustavus homepage (upper right hand corner).
  2. Supply your Gustavus credentials (e-mail username and password).
  3. Click on your image on the home page (upper right hand corner).
  4. Select Gustavus User Settings.
  1. Click Report Lost 3 Crowns Card.
  2. Follow the prompts.

Users are responsible for replacing lost or missing cards. There will be a $40.00 charge for replacement cards. Cards can be replaced in Dining Services.

Grey Box Keys

Gustavus Helpline employees are allowed access to our Grey Box with their Three Crowns Card. The Grey Box is a security measure that allows us to have access to buildings and rooms and controls who has that access and when. Employees are to only check out keys with their own 3 Crowns Card.

If you leave work without returning keys to the grey box, you will be notified by email (at 4:40 pm) to return the keys. Notification may also come via text message. If it is after 4:45 pm, you must return the keys to the Campus Safety Office (basement of Norelius) as soon as you are aware of the situation. You are responsible for returning the keys to the Campus Safety Office - do not call Campus Safety and ask them to pick them up from you - they are not allowed to do this.
