Courses for Credit
Gustavus not currently offer ASL courses, but it is possible to take to courses at another institution and have them fullfill the non-English langauge and culture requirement at Gustavus. Please note the following:
- You may transfer credits from any college or University in the US or credits from a study abroad program.
- You should first contact the Office of the Registrar to make sure your credit will transfer prior to enrolling in a program outside of Gustavus.
- Make sure to forward your transcript to the Office of the Registrar as soon as you receive your passing grades.
MSU-Mankato Reciprocation Program
Gustavus has a reciprocation program with MSU-Mankato, so it is possible to take courses there and have them fullfill the non-English langauge and culture requirement at Gustavus. Please note:
- ASL Courses are found under the Communication Sciences and Disorders program.
- Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced I and Advanced II levels are available. These probably correspond roughly to the first four semesters of language at Gustavus, but check first with the Gustavus Registrar. See all courses offered in that program here.
- They also offer an American Sign Language Certificate which includes the four courses listed above, and a course on Dimensions of Deafness.
