Description
Fulbright Scholar, Rosemarie Mwaipopo, will discuss constitutional approval of a multiparty state in 1992 Tanzania, indicating a broader platform for women to participate and engage in demanding for their rights. With an influential and manipulative ruling party, it directed how and in what manner these demands were to be pursued, including manipulating how women and religion can be used as currency for their rule. This study examines how women have gained but also have been used to maintain a pseudo-multiparty state in Tanzania, at the same time silence critical issues regarding women's rights.
