Description

The CIE is launching the October Diving Deeper series for Hispanic Heritage Month: The Emancipation of Latin America Part 1 & 2 with Professors Robert Christensen & Carlos Mejia(10/4, 10/11 from 12 pm - 1 pm @ The CIE) with free pan dulce and Mexican hot chocolate. Join us to learn about Mexican Independence Day and Central America (i.e. Costa Rica, El Salvador, etc.), and the history of Columbia's politics/activism.

We also have our special guest Stephanie Gandy (artist, activist, & educator) from UMN Minneapolis facilitating a session on The Intersections of Student Art and Activism (10/20, from 4:30 - 5:30 pm @ The CIE). This presentation will highlight some methods of art activism and tie in her personal experience while an undergraduate student during the rise of Black Lives Matter following the death of Trayvon Martin. Personal art referenced can be viewed on stephaniemgandy.com/artsy.
