Description

Delve into the artistic realm with Al Behrends, Director of Fine Arts at Gustavus Adolphus College & David Goldstein, Executive Director of the Arts Center in Saint Peter. Al Behrends will discuss the college's vision for its arts program. In this new century, what must we consider as we look to the future of the arts at Gustavus and throughout the greater community? Is the long tradition of the performing and visual arts at Gustavus changing? What is its place in an academic community which prides itself as a truly liberal arts experience? David Goldstein, will consider thriving arts in small communities. In times of economic retrenchment and constant budget cuts, small non-profits must find alternative ways to hang on. He will shed light on what the Arts Center of Saint Peter is doing in stormy economic times and the impact a thriving arts center can have on small communities like Saint Peter.
