Teachers Talking - Building Community in the Classroom
Join colleagues on Friday, November 10th for Teaching Talking from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the St Peter Room. Topic: Building Community in the Classroom. Creating a sense of community within a classroom has numerous benefits. Among other things, students are more likely to take academic risks and demonstrate increased motivation in classrooms with a sense of community. What strategies build community in the classroom? How have these strategies changed over the years in response to student needs? Join some of the Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching recipients for a collaborative discussion that will explore these questions and more! Presenters: Carlson Award Recipients: Lauren Hecht, Martin Lang, Kate Knutson, David Obermiller. Free lunch at the buffet.
