Teachers Talking ˜The Inverted Classroom'

The ˜inverted classroom' concept generally refers to the reversal of the traditional roles filled by in-class and outside-of-class activities. Recent descriptions of the approach as applied to a lecture course involve delivering pre-recorded (video and/or audio) content via the web before class that would normally be delivered in class in the conventional lecture approach. This frees up time in class that is then dedicated to a more problem-centered or discussion-based approach to teaching and learning. Dr. Darin J. Ulness and Patti Heisler (Assoc. Professor in the Chemistry Department & Neuroscience Program, Instructional Designer / Academic Technologist, respectively; Concordia College, Moorhead) will give a short presentation about their experiences with the inverted classroom, followed by discussion.
