Description

The 2022 Moe Lecture will feature investigative reporter Aura Bogado. Her lecture will talk about the challenges of reporting on immigration and migration – digging deep on stories that include ever-evolving changes in policies and practices of enforcement, which are best understood as part of the greater project of racial and ethnic exclusion in the United States. Bogado will expand on the challenges and opportunities faced by non-white women reporters in a field that’s long been dominated by white men, and the enormous value of adhering to a set of ethics that assumes the expertise of the lived experiences of marginalized people.

Aura Bogado is a senior reporter and producer for Reveal. Her impact-driven work covers immigration, with a focus on migrant children in federal custody. She's earned a Murrow Award, a Hillman Prize, and an IRE medal, and was a finalist for the National Magazine Award and an Emmy nominee. She was previously a staff writer at Grist, where she wrote about the intersection of race and the environment, and also worked for Colorlines and The Nation. She's a graduate of Yale University.

The Moe Visiting Lectureship is endowed by Karin and Robert Moe in honor of their daughter, Kris Burke Moe, class of 1984.
