The Gustavus Department of Music is proud to present voice faculty Robin Helgen for a spring recital with Mary Hunt on piano.

Robin Joy Helgen is an active soloist and vocal instructor based in the Twin Cities. She has a BA in Music Education from Bethel University and M. Mus in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. Her performing includes the professional choruses of the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus with Helmuth Rilling, the Minnesota Opera singing in over 20 productions and currently with The Ensemble Singers of VocalEssence conducted by Philip Brunelle. With VocalEssence Ms. Helgen sang the role of ‘the Commere’ in the Virgil Thompson work “Four Saints in Three Acts”. As a church soloist she has performed “In the Beginning” by Aaron Copland and numerous other works. She is currently the alto section leader/soloist at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Ms. Helgen is on faculty here at Gustavus Adolphus College and maintains a vocal studio at her home in Minneapolis.

Mary Hunt is a freelance piano soloist and collaborative pianist. With graduate degrees from Boston University (M.M.) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (D.M.A.), she has been featured on both Wisconsin and Minnesota Public Radio and on Wisconsin Public Television. Her teaching experience includes private studios in Madison and Houston, TX, and as a member of the faculty at Luther College and St. Joseph School of Music in St. Paul. She is a long-time performing member of Thursday Musical and a volunteer at The Raptor Center.
