Description

Join Tom Flunker, Director in the Center for Inclusive Excellence, in a conversation about Racial Battle Fatigue. Individuals from marginalized groups face chronic, microaggressive jabs, often from well-intentioned individuals. Institutional culture has the ability to either foster, or suppress, the damaging impact of racial battle fatigue. Campuses that want to support racially marginalized groups and challenge even the most unassuming forms of racism, must commit to significant and intentional cultural change.

The goals of this session are:
Explain what Racial Battle Fatigue is
Point out some of the identified causes
Describe the observed and experienced consequences
Highlight helpful next steps

The talk will take place in 3 Crowns Room from 1 p.m.- 1:50 p.m. on Monday, January 31.
