Description

Society of Physics Students and Womxn in Physics are showing the award winning documentary Picture a Scientist, followed by a panel of scientists that will speak on their experiences. The panel will include:

Liz Boatman-

Dr. Boatman received her B.S. in Physics and Applied Chemistry from Beloit College. She then went on to earn her M.S.-Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from UC Berkeley. She recently joined Gustavus this year and is currently a professor in the Physics department.

Melissa Lynn-

Dr. Lynn earned a Ph.D in Mathematics from UCLA in 2016, after graduating with a B.A. in Mathematics from University of Chicago. She is currently a professor in the Mathematics and Computer Science department with expertise in algebra, number theory, and computer science.

Jill Locke-

Dr. Locke earned her B.A. from Whitman College and her Ph.D from Rutgers University. She is currently a professor in the Political Science department and the Program Director for Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. She is the author of Democracy and the Death of Shame: Political Equality and Social Disturbance (Cambridge University Press, 2016). She has presented her work on shame and shamelessness at various colleges and universities in the US and Europe. 

Jalean Petricka-

Dr. Petricka earned her B.A. in Biology and Mathematics from Carleton College in 2000. She then received her M.S., MPhil, and Ph.D in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from Yale University. She is an Evaluation Specialist for Scholarship America and a visiting instructor at Gustavus in the Biology department.
