"Passion" Movie Conversation

Description A public conversation on theological and ethical issues raised in the film "The Passion of Christ" will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, March 8 in Alumni Hall. Jack Neimi (church relations) will moderate the discussion, and President Jim Peterson will deliver a brief welcome address. Expert speakers will discuss various aspects of the film. Jonathan Paradise, professor emeritus of classical and near eastern studies at the University of Minnesota, will discuss the film from the perspective of a Jewish Scholar. Deborah Goodwin (religion) will give a brief history of passion plays. Darrell Jodock (religion) will address theological issues for Jewish/Christian relations. Casey Elledge (religion) will address issues raised about historical research on Jesus. Andrew Vaughn (religion) will discuss the role of history and story in religious narratives and dramas. This conversation is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Office of Church Relations, the Department of Religion, and the Office of the President.
