Description

The shift to a world economy has revealed a variety of trade-offs that polarize economists and policy makers. Optimizing a business for efficiency often results in fewer and lower paying jobs. Regulating businesses for the public good comes at the cost of reducing the ability of the business to develop innovative solutions to challenging problems. In the end, we are left with many questions: Why does inequality matter? How do we grow economies in a sustainable way? How do societies prosper in a global economy? The 2016 Nobel Conference: In Search of Economic Balance brings economists from around the world to help us understand some of the challenges facing real-world implementation of economic theories.

The 2016 Nobel Conference will be held the last week of September rather than its traditional date of early October out of respect for the celebration of Rosh Hashanah.
