Description
What can we learn about the importance of dining together by exploring etiquette books? Sociologist and food studies scholar Alice Julier will discuss her research into historical and contemporary etiquette books written for white and black audiences. She explores the similarities and differences between these books, in order to understand the significance of these "commensal relationships" for Euro-whites and African Americans. Refreshments will be served.
