Email/Home Directory Outage - Wednesday afternoonSeptember 8, 2005All day

Yesterday (Wednesday, September 7th) the machines that control e-mail and home directories went down in an kernal panic at about 3:40 pm. During this outage e-mail and home directories were unavailable.

E-mail and home directory access was restored by 6 pm. Some e-mail may have bounced during this time. The mail server struggled to catch up after the outage, and mail may have been slow to be delivered.
