Description

Reading in Common presents Dirty: The Soil Film Festival, a film series coordinated in collaboration with the 2018 Nobel Conference, Living Soil: A Universe Underfoot, and Campus Activities Board (CAB).

The first film, Symphony of the Soil, is a documentary that enhances our understanding of soil in contexts that include agriculture, one of the primary topics in the 2018 Reading in Common selection, The Good Food Revolution by Will Allen. It will be shown at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 20 in Wallenberg Auditorium. A faculty-led discussion will follow the movie, engaging the audience in reacting to this documentary.

The second film, Interstellar, will be presented by CAB at 8 p.m. on Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29 in Wallenberg Auditorium. Watch this popular theatrical movie that connects Reading in Common and the 54th Nobel Conference by telling the story of individuals who engage in space exploration, searching for a new planet that can sustain plant and human life, due to extreme soil degradation on Earth.
