TREE: GROWTH, WOOD CHARACTERISTICS AND USES. Instructor: Cindy Johnson-Groh, Executive Director, Linnaeus Arboretum and Associate Professor, Biology. Trees are amazing architects of form and function. In this class you will learn how a tree grows and produces wood and bark. We will investigate the different types of wood and their uses. Participants will learn to identify commonly used woods.
