Description
Based on the tragic events of April 20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado, this docudrama presents a snapshot of American youth culture seen through the lens of the suburban high school landscape. The play is an exploration of the tensions and anxieties generated by hermetic social networks and the (in)ability to fit in. Combining original interviews and transcripts drawn from the Columbine massacre, while dissecting the cultural pathologies that might have led to the tragedy, the United States Theatre Project has created a work that is simultaneously brutal and endearing. columbinus is a testament to the relevance of contemporary theater and an urgency call for self-reflexivity and dialogue. Please note: This play contains explicit language and violent situations.
