Description

We invite you to join us for the 17th Annual Building Bridges Conference, "Unresolved Conflict: Remember Our Forgotten History e taking place Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Gustavus Adolphus College. This student-led diversity conference will provide a rewarding opportunity to engage in important dialogue as Building Bridges places a spotlight on American Indian history and culture. In particular, we will discuss the impact of colonization on American Indians, past and present. In addition, we will provide workshops that remember the history as well workshops that celebrate American Indian culture.

Building on tradition, this conference continues to be the platform for students to address matters of global significance in a proactive and informative way. This year, we have invited Charlotte Black Elk, a descendent of the holy man Nicholas Black Elk, and as our Keynote Speaker. The highlighted workshop will be given by John Trudell, a crucial member of the American Indian Movement. Complementing these presentations will be a series of workshops to provide conference attendees with an array of opportunities to learn about the forgotten history of American Indian as well as prevalent issues in American Indian communities today.

We encourage you to attend this 17th annual Building Bridges Conference and to join us in learning more about our forgotten history and the contemporary issues affecting American Indian communities.
