Description

All Gustavus employees and their families are invited to a pot-luck supper from 4:30 until 6:30 on Monday, October 10, in Alumni Hall to kick off the first phase of the Dignity Project. Please join us to share some time together and celebrate the Gustavus Community. Bring a dish to pass and table service. Soft drinks will be provided.

The Dignity Project at Gustavus affirms the value of all people and asserts that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. As individuals and as a community, we do not always honor the inherent worth and value of others. We share concern for those in our community who have suffered or are suffering violations of their dignity. The Dignity Project will use best practices to engage the Gustavus community in considering, sharing, listening, writing, and restoring dignity to all on our campus. The Dignity Project will consist of two phases. The first phase, beginning on October 10 with a pot-luck supper and concluding on November 18, will focus on education, examination of what dignity looks like to our community, contemplative practice and individual reflection. The second phase will start on January 9 and will conclude on February 24 and will focus on our stories of dignity and indignity. We consider the work of the Dignity Project to be emergent, meaning that the scope and depth of our work will evolve as we better understand the needs of people who choose to participate. We invite all in our community who wish to engage and/or champion dignity in our community to participate.
