A Student Perspective on Choosing A Major

Since you are unable to major in “undecided,” choosing your major field of concentration in college can seem like a daunting task to any college student. As some students come in with more preparation and/or decisiveness about the path they want to pursue, other (many) incoming students come in having no clue where to begin. The really attractive thing about choosing a major at Gustavus is that they give you a long time to figure things out – at least until the end of your sophomore year. Then, after that, you can change majors as many times as necessary to find out what is right for you. Your academic advisors know this and are definitely willing and capable of guiding you through this process.
