Gustavus Adolphus College is a residential college. It recognizes that a significant part of a student's learning experience is gained outside the classroom and that the residence hall environment is a key developmental tool in this process. As a residential college, Gustavus is committed to residence hall living as a vital complement to its academic program. As such, all students are expected to live in college-owned residences all four years. In recent years, the number of students has been greater than the on-campus capacity. Therefore, a select number of juniors and seniors are granted permission to reside off-campus.
