Women's Track and Field Posts Strong Second Place Finish At MIAC Outdoor Championships

The Gustavus women's track and field team finished second behind champion St. Thomas as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships which were hosted by Hamline University in St. Paul. Three Gusties claimed individual championships and that group included Lisa Brown (javelin), Shanna Dawson (pole vault), and Kaelene Lundstrum (high jump).

  • Baseball Team Stays Alive In MIAC Tournament With 7-3 Win Over Hamline, Saturday's Game Moved Up To 11:00 AM
    The Gustavus baseball team lost its first game in the MIAC Tournament to St. Thomas 11-3, but then rebounded with a 7-3 win over Hamline in the nightcap. The Gusties will now face St. Olaf on Saturday morning in the consolation final at 11:00 am. The game was originally scheduled for 1 pm, however with rain forecast for the afternoon, the starting time has been moved to 11 am in Dundas at Memorial Park.

    The Gustavus women's track and field team will take participate in the MIAC Outdoor Championships this Friday and Saturday at Hamline University. The Gusties finished second at the outdoor meet a year ago and placed second at the indoor championships in March. Coach Tom Thorkelson's squad will attempt to use its talent and depth to sneak past St. Thomas into the top spot this year. The meet begins at 3:00 pm on Friday and then on Saturday, events begin at 4:00 pm.

    The Gustavus men's track and field team will compete in the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at Hamline University. Senior pole vaulter Drew Hood and junior hurdler Tyler Geyen are ranked among the elite performers in the conference heading into the weekend championships.
  • Baseball Opens MIAC Tournament Against St. Thomas On Friday, Second Game Will Be Broadcast On KNUJ
    The Gustavus baseball team will open MIAC Post-Season Tournament play on Friday at 3:30 against St. Thomas in Dundas at Memorial Park. If Gustavus would win they would play at 7 pm at Dundas, if the Gusties would lose they would play at 7 pm at Sechler Park in Northfield. You can listen to the Gusties 7 pm game through the Gustavus website or on KNUJ Radio (860 AM).

    Gustavus Adolphus softball players Rachael Click (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) and Julie Mahre (Lino Lakes, Minn./White Bear Lake) have been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Click was named to the Academic All-District First Team for the second consecutive season, and will now advance to the national ballot.
  • Women's Tennis Opens NCAA Championship Finals Play on Tuesday Against Washington and Lee
    The Gustavus women's tennis team will face Washington and Lee University in a NCAA Division III Team Championship quarterfinal match at 2 p.m. (CDT) on Tuesday afternoon. Gustavus Adolphus College will be serving as the host of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. The Gusties enter the match with a record of 24-8, while Washington and Lee enters with a mark of 26-0.
  • Katie SchenfeldKatie Schenfeld Named MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week
    Gustavus Adolphus College first-year Katie Schenfeld (Indianola, Iowa) has been named the MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week by the league coaches. Schenfeld shot an 81, which was the low round at LeSueur Country Club on Saturday, in a meet that included Gustavus, UW-Stevens Point and two individuals from Macalester. As a team, Gustavus defeated UW-Stevens Point 336-355.
  • Rachael ClickJulie MahreJulie Mahre And Rachael Click Named To NFCA All-Midwest Region Team
    Gustavus Adolphus College softball players Julie Mahre (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn./White Bear Lake) and Rachael Click (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo) have been named to the All-Midwest Region Team as released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Mahre and Click were first-team selections.
