Nate Johnson


Assistant Coach Football and Baseball in Athletics

Nate Johnson begins his second season on staff for the Gustavus Adolphus football team, serving as the team’s defensive backs coach and video coordinator.  Johnson will also begin his first season as an assistant baseball coach under Mike Carroll in 2014.  

A native of Austin, Minnesota, Johnson graduated from Austin High School in 2004. From there, Nate attended St. Cloud State University where he graduated with an undergraduate degree in English studies – rhetoric and applied writing in the spring of 2010. A four-year letterwinner for the St. Cloud State football team, Johnson was an All-Conference performer his senior season in 2008 after amassing 472 yards on 27 catches with two touchdowns. He concluded his collegiate career ranked 14th in school history in all-time receiving with 77 receptions for 1,109 yards (14.4 avg./catch) and five touchdowns. A two-sport athlete at St. Cloud State, Johnson also earned three letters in baseball during his playing career.

After graduating from St. Cloud State in the spring of 2010 with a degree in English studies, rhetoric and applied writing, Nate served as a graduate assistant for the Huskie football team from the fall of 2009 to 2012. Johnson is currently working towards his masters of science in sport management from St. Cloud State. 

Johnson currently resides in St. Peter.
