Gift Planner in Advancement

Mike Nevergall joined the Gustavus family in June 2017 as a Gift Planner and is excited to partner with Gustavus alumni, parents, and friends to advance the mission of the College. He works most closely with supporters in the Twin Cities metro area and greater Minnesota as well as the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. He also works with the 25 year reunion class.

Mike is a native of Ohio, the son of a Lutheran pastor and a Certified Public Accountant. He studied marketing and communication at Valparaiso University, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. For the first eight years of his career, Mike worked at the ELCA Churchwide Organization in Chicago, serving on the staff of Lutheran Disaster Response and then as Director of the ELCA Fund for Leaders. After completing a master's degree in Nonprofit Administration at North Park University in 2013, Mike and his family moved to Austin, Texas where he worked in advancement for Upbring (formerly Lutheran Social Services of the South). Mike succesfully earned the Certifed Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in 2016 and is an active member of ALDE, the Association of Lutheran Development Executives.

Mike is married to Rachel, a 2004 Valpo alumna. They have three young children and live in South Minneapolis, where they are members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. In his free time, Mike likes to read, exercise, and visit local breweries.
