Eric EliasFaculty
I have been interested in the outdoors since I was a kid and have been fortunate enough to have found a career that lets me help others get excited about our natural world. At Gustavus I primarily teach laboratory components of two of the four "core" courses in the Biology Department. I also teach non-majors about Minnsesota fish and aquatic insect biology, freshwater ecosystems, and ways that they can become informed and involved environmental stewards through, among other things, fly tying and fly fishing. I also serve as a Faculty Advisor for the Gustavus Fly Fishing Club and am Co-Advisor for the Gustavus chapter of the Tri-Alpha Honor Society that recognizes the accomplishments of first-gen college students.
My professional interests include the disruption of the reproductive endocrine systems of fishes by environmental estrogens, the natural history study of nongames freshwater fishes, and aquatic entomology.
I live in St. Peter and enjoying watching my kids' sporting events.
