Eric Elias
Faculty
I have been interested in the outdoors since I was a kid and have been fortunate enough to have found a career that lets me help others get excited about our natural world. At Gustavus I primarily teach two of the four "core" lab courses in the Biology Department, but I also have taught an occasional lecture section of Organismal Biology (Bio 102), as well as my January IEX course Minnesota Aquatic Stewardship (Bio 131). This course gets students learning about aquatic biology and ecosystems and their role as environmental stewards through, among other things, fly tying and fly fishing. Yes, you can find places to fly fish in January in Minnesota! I also serve as a faculty sponsor for January Career Exploration Internships.
I live in St. Peter with my wife, Betsy, and our three children: Will, Iris, and June.
