Bethany TrumanStaff

Assistant Director in Cnt for Inclusive Excellence

Although she holds a few titles, the one most precious to Bethany is the title of mom. When Bethany isn't worm hunting, fishing, or playing with hot wheels, she is busy engaging with her community to further her local area youth's equity within the community and in youth serving organizations. Bethany prides herself in being a youth and racial justice advocate and carries that with her to the various boards and committees she currently sits on such as: Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, Mankato Public Safety Advisory committee and the Mahkato Wacipi Powwow committee. Bethany has previously served on the following: MAPS SRO advisory committee, Minnesota State University Mankato education reform committee, and Mankato Makerspace.

Bethany was adopted as an infant from Chile and was raised in a small town in south central Minnesota to a loving family who were also educators. After High School she went on to pursue her undergraduate at Northwestern College (now University of Northwestern) in St. Paul where she had the opportunity to travel to the Middle East and attend Jerusalem University College for a short time. Later on in life she moved to the country of Jordan to help serve Iraqi refugees and teach English. Recently, Bethany graduated from Liberty University with her Masters in Pastoral Counseling: Crisis Response & Trauma.

Throughout her journey, Bethany has had the honor and privilege of working alongside students from 18 months, as an Early Childhood Teacher to college age, as she completed her graduate Internship requirements at Gusatvus in the Spring of 23. Bethany is grateful and excited for this new chapter in higher education and looks forward to supporting and advocating for all students as the Assitant Director of the Center for Inclusive Excellence.
