Senior Class LegacyThink beyond the amount. Every gift counts!

The Senior Class Legacy (SCL) is a long-standing tradition at Gustavus and has existed in a similar form dating back to the Class of 1900, who collected enough money to buy a geological collection for the geology department. Today the SCL supports the Gustavus Annual Fund and is an opportunity for graduating seniors to give back to Gustavus in a way that is meaningful to them and unique to their experience as a student. Not every student has the same Gustie experience, but the Gustauvs Annual Fund has supported every student, whether through scholarships, academic departments or extracurricular activities.

As graduating seniors, you're in a distinctive position. The College understands that most students do not have the financial capacity to give large contributions. We recognize also that giving comes in many forms, such as with your time and talents. Yet, every gift to the Gustavus Annual Fund, no matter the size, counts.

Now it’s your turn to give back. Your participation in the senior class legacy is truly important to the college, and you can do so at any gift size; the size doesn’t matter. There are three different ways for seniors to contribute to the Senior Class Legacy:

  1. A Gift + Sustained Giving Pledge
  2. A Sustained Giving Pledge
  3. A One-time Gift

Everyone who participates in the SCL will receive the opportunity to tour the tunnels during Senior Week.

The Class of 2014 has chosen to raise money to purchase seven indoor compost containers for the Campus Center, Lund Center, and all on-campus apartment buildings (excess funds will go to support the Gustavus Annual Fund). Sustained pledges/gifts will be pooled towards your five-year reunion.

Your Senior Class Legacy contribution helps:

  • To say "Thank You" for your unique Gustavus experience
  • Provide opportunities for future Gusties
  • Enhance the value of your degree
  • Support the immediate needs of the College.
