Description
Dear Windows XP Users, At the start of the school year your computer was configured with a network address (a static hard coded IP address) that is no longer valid. As a result of this you may have recently been unable to browse the network neighborhood or mount your home directory. To resolve this problem, please make the following changes to your Network Control Panel:
  1. Launch the Network Connection Control Panel (Start Menu-Control Panels-Network Connections).
  2. Right Click on the Network Connection for your Ethernet card and select Properties.
  3. In the This connection uses the following items list, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and click the Properties button.
  4. Click the Advanced button
  5. On the WINS Tab remove the 138.236.66.20 and replace it with 138.236.128.16.
  6. Click OK or Close to all the open windows.
  7. Reboot your machine. If, after making these changes, you continue to have problems mounting your home directory please contact the Computer Helpline at x6111 or helpline@gustavus.edu.
