"Magic Mike" is the story of a newbie to the male stripping scene and the friendship he forms with a more experienced dancer who takes him under his wing"and with its based-on-a-true-story street cred (the script riffs on the real-life experiences of a 19-year-old Channing Tatum, whose pre-celebrity days included a stint at a strip club) and one heck of a director on board (the inimitable Steven Soderbergh, he of the "Oceans" heist movies), our interest was instantly piqued.
