Description
Visiting Artist in Residence, Vijay Padaki, will present a public lecture on Theatre in India. Padaki wrote "Footprints," the play directed by Rob Gardner and presented by the Theatre Department November 20-23. Vijay Padaki is a psychologist and behavioral scientist by training, and founder-director of The P&P Group, a management resource center that has programs of consultancy, research and training in the areas of organization and institutional development. A great deal of the work of The P&P Group is devoted to the effectiveness of non-profit organizations, especially in development programs. Among his earlier assignments he was a member of the founding faculty at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and founder of a Centre for Management for the textile industry, and a Visiting Professor at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, to initiate a program in R&D Management. Vijay has been active in the theatre for over forty years, joining Bangalore Little Theatre in 1960, the year of its inception, and later serving the company in many capacities -- as actor, director, trainer, writer, designer and administrator, including three stints as President. Vijay has written over 15 plays. In addition, he has adapted or translated several other play scripts, a volume of which has been published. In 1993, he won The Hindu award for best contemporary play script.
