Description

The Greek, Latin, and Classical Studies Department at Gustavus Adolphus College is excited to be hosting a special online event, Uprooting Medea, on Thursday, April 28, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Shivaike Shah, Visiting Artist and Producer/Founder of Khameleon Productions (UK), will introduce audiences to the making of Khameleon’s upcoming short film on the figure of Medea, based on Khameleon’s stage production of Euripides’s Medea at Oxford (UK) in 2018. This production reimagined the ancient Greek tragedy and its themes of race, identity, and otherness with an all-global majority cast and crew. This presentation will explore Khameleon’s creative practice of elevating global-majority artists through multimedia forms including theater, film, music, and poetry.
