Tomas Transt??mer Poetry EveningDecember 14, 2011 at 7–9 p.m.

Join the faculty and students of the Department of Scandinavian Studies and Gustavus poets and English professors Phil Bryant, John Rezmerski, and Joyce Sutphen for an evening in honor of the Swedish poet Tomas Transtr??mer, who will receive this year's Nobel Prize in Literature in Stockholm on December 10, 2011. Students and faculty will read a selection of their favorite Transtr??mer poems in English and/or Swedish, and upper-level Swedish language students will share their translations of Transtr??mer's poetry. We will also commemorate Transtr??mer's visit to Gustavus with his American translator and long-time friend, the Minnesota poet Robert Bly in 1972 and hear reflections from from who were present.
