While an interdisciplinary approach to understand the world is an essential feature of the liberal arts, is it sufficient? Do we also expect our students to be prepared for civic engagement, professional achievement, and/or an interest in lifelong learning? If we do, how does a Gustavus liberal arts education prepare them for this?
