Description

Community Based Learning: Matching student learning with community partner needs

As teachers seek to incorporate service learning or community action into their classrooms, they need to recognize that they are forming partnerships with community members and organizations that have their own interests and agendas. As we begin to think about adding a community-based learning component to our classes we often forget to consult the needs of the community. Join the 2011-2012 Faculty Fellows Marie Walker (Pshychology), Jim Dontje (Johnson Center for Environmental Innovations/Environmental Studies) and Angelique Dwyer (Modern Languages) as they discuss their community-based learning projects and ways to respond to community partner needs. Co-sponsored with Center for Servant Leadership.
