Description

Active Listening

How much of what your colleagues, students, and advisees are saying do you think you are really hearing? You may be surprised. Active listening is a way of engaging with a person to better understand what s/he is trying to communicate. This skill is associated with more constructive communication by improving comprehension, reducing/avoiding conflict, and promoting cooperation. Karin Ryan, Counseling Center, will give a brief presentation on active listening skills and opportunities to put the skill into practice. Thursday, April 14 at 11:30/12:30 pm. Free lunch at Three Crowns buffet, then meet in St Peter Room.
