Alpha Sigma Tau will be hosting the 3rd annual Take Back The Night, with the special guest speaker: Katie Koestner.
Katie shares a message of how hurt can become healing. She talks about how people responded to her own story of sexual assault and how she pressed on to share her story to create change in national laws, policies, and awareness. Katie explains how her parents reacted, her fellow students responded, and how the country reacted as her story reached national fame through TIME Magazine, HBO, Oprah, CNN, NBC News, Good Morning America, and the Today Show.
Katie's story is accessible and her delivery is passionate. She inspires others to speak out, takes a stand, and work to end sexual violence in all forms. Her courage is infectious and she provides real-life ways each of us can change the standard on respect and equality. Those who seek to support survivors learn methods to do so for all kinds of survivors.
Ms. Koestner has lectured at over 5000 colleges and high schools in North America. She has appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine, on Oprah, CNN, MTV, MSNBC, NBC Nightly News, Good Morning America, Larry King Live, Later Today, Entertainment Tonight, is the subject of an HBO Movie, as well as dozens of other national news programs. The US Ambassador to India has invited Ms. Koestner to lecture for 19 days in India, and the US Department of Defense has had Ms. Koestner train their top 200 officers.
