The presentation will highlight Braekkan's and Konkol's ongoing collaborative research on the conflicts between human dignity and exploitation under the current economic system. In their book project, they synthesize theological and Marxist perspectives on the exploitative elements of selling one's labor power, the consequences of offering blind faith to the promises of the marketplace, and the costs of having to produce and consume in order to be judged as valuable human beings.

An ordained ELCA pastor, Konkol previously served international assignments in Guyana and South Africa.
